The AmCham BiH business delegation, consisting of representatives of 22 leading member companies, visited Chicago and St. Louis from June 7 to 12 with the aim of strengthening business and investment ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States. Through meetings with American companies, development institutions, investors and representatives of the BiH diaspora, discussions were opened on new partnerships, investment opportunities and exchange of business experiences.
The program began in Chicago with a roundtable held at Fifth Third Bank, in cooperation with World Business Chicago, Illinois Economic Development Corporation, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the US Department of Commerce. The focus of the discussions was on the investment potential of Bosnia and Herzegovina, strategic sectors for cooperation and opportunities for stronger connections between business communities. During the visit, the delegation also held a series of B2B meetings with American companies, while networking events brought together representatives of the BiH diaspora and the local business community, confirming their interest in more active involvement in the development of economic relations between the two countries.
A special part of the program was dedicated to innovation and the development of the technological ecosystem. The delegation visited Hyde Park Labs, the Polsky Center at the University of Chicago, the UChicago Science Incubator and mHUB, where models of startup development, technology transfer and cooperation between universities and businesses were presented. The visit to the E80 Group company brought modern solutions in the field of automation and smart manufacturing closer.
In St. Louis, the delegation was hosted by the Mayor of St. Louis, Cara Spencer, and the President of Bank of America St. Louis, Marilyn Bush, at the Bank of America. During the meeting, a signed jersey of the captain of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, Edin Džeko, was presented as a symbolic sign of gratitude for the support and cooperation ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
“This is the fourth AmCham BiH business delegation to the United States and a confirmation that direct meetings with companies, institutions and investors bring the greatest value. During the visit, we opened concrete discussions about future investments and partnerships, but also gained valuable insights into trends that will shape business in the years to come,” said Nedim Hamzić, CEO of AmCham BiH.
Mirhada Jašarević, VP Senior Relationship Manager at Bank of America and one of the organizers of the program in the United States, emphasized the importance of including the BiH diaspora in such initiatives.
“It was a great honor for me to be part of the organizing committee for welcoming the delegation to the United States. I believe that such initiatives further strengthen relations between the two countries and confirm the strong desire of the diaspora for more active and meaningful connections with Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Jašarević.
The visit concluded with a panel discussion dedicated to the application of artificial intelligence and new technologies in business, highlighting the importance of knowledge exchange between companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States. Through meetings with leading American institutions, companies and innovation centers, AmCham BiH members had the opportunity to establish new business contacts, exchange experiences and open space for future joint projects.
