Through a dedicated webinar on SEPA integration, AmCham BiH initiated an important discussion on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s progress toward joining the Single Euro Payments Area. The webinar was opened by Emir Kurtić, Vice Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who outlined the activities of the BiH Coordination Committee and emphasized the importance of coordinated action among the Central Bank, ministries of finance, entity banking agencies, and commercial banks.
The technical and operational requirements for successful SEPA implementation were presented by Merima Mahmutović from PwC Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her presentation focused on the key steps required from banks, regulators, and payment service providers, including infrastructure readiness, process standardization, payment security, and regulatory alignment necessary for SEPA to function effectively.
A broader European and regional perspective was provided by Marco Folcia from PwC Italy, who shared comparative insights from EU member states and neighboring countries. His contribution highlighted the tangible benefits of SEPA standards, such as faster, simpler, and more secure transactions, improved payment infrastructure, and enhanced competitiveness of the financial sector.
