A business delegation of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AmCham BiH), consisting of 30 representatives from 26 leading domestic companies, visited the U.S. state of Texas from May 19 to 23. The visit aimed to strengthen economic ties between BiH and the United States, position Bosnia and Herzegovina as a credible investment partner, and deepen engagement with the Bosnian diaspora.

During their stay in Austin, College Station, Round Rock, and Houston, the delegation held meetings with key American institutions, companies, and chambers of commerce, including the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Houston Partnership. Discussions focused on the digital economy, infrastructure, education, and sustainable business models.

Delegates visited prestigious academic institutions such as Texas A&M University and the University of Texas at Austin, as well as companies from various sectors including food, logistics, construction, energy, and technology – including LCRA, Sabey Data Centers, MA’s Pasta, Triple Temp Cold Storage, and The Cannon.

In Houston, Mayor John Whitmire emphasized that the city’s doors are always open to businesses from Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting the need for stronger ties between Houston and BiH. He thanked the delegation’s leadership for their vision and commitment.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina can and must build ties with the U.S. – not just symbolically, but through developing economic cooperation, strategic networking, and bringing American businesses to BiH. Our visit to Texas proved that we can sit at the same table with the world’s leading economy. It was a great honor to be welcomed so warmly by institutions and business leaders across the U.S. AmCham BiH will continue to build bridges between the two economies,” said Nedim Hamzić, Executive Director of AmCham BiH.

Business leaders from Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to visit the U.S. and engage directly with American companies and institutions, recognizing the potential for long-term economic partnerships.

“The visit to Texas was an extraordinary opportunity to present Bosnia and Herzegovina as a country with knowledge, resources, and valuable business partners. The contacts made with American companies and institutions can lead to concrete investments, knowledge exchange, and a stronger presence of BiH in global economic flows,” said Amina Mahmutović, Management Board Member of UniCredit Bank d.d. Mostar and Chair of the AmCham BiH Board of Governors.

The Bosnian diaspora in Texas, which plays an active role in local communities, also gave strong support to the AmCham BiH initiative.

“It was my pleasure to host AmCham BiH at Houston’s City Hall, and I am proud of the professionals representing Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Nedim Hamzić and Amina Mahmutović. This is the beginning of a strong partnership between Houston and BiH,” said Samir Bečić, internationally recognized health and fitness expert.

“It was a true honor to host the AmCham BiH delegation in Austin and Round Rock. We are grateful for the meaningful connections and friendships we built – relationships we hope will grow into lasting global business partnerships. A heartfelt thank you as well to the political and corporate leaders of Central Texas who warmly welcomed us and generously opened their doors for dialogue and collaboration,” said Amir Memić, COO of Centerstream and Ashley Energy.

The visit reaffirmed that Bosnia and Herzegovina has the knowledge, talent, and private sector strength needed to build strategic partnerships on a global scale. Initiatives such as this are key to positioning the country on the global investment map and strengthening international cooperation through joint projects and expertise exchange.
