The American Chamber of Commerce in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AmCham BiH), in partnership with the Federal Inspection Agency (FUZIP), marked World Intellectual Property Day by organizing a roundtable discussion on the topic “Intellectual Property Protection in BiH – Challenges and Prospects for Improvement”.

The event brought together representatives of relevant institutions, inspectorates, the judiciary, the legal profession and the business community, with the aim of exchanging information, considering current challenges in the intellectual property protection system, and identifying specific proposals and recommendations for its improvement.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that the ways of marketing products have changed significantly in recent decades, and that it is important to continuously adapt legal and by-laws to modern market conditions. The attendees shared their practical experiences, especially in relation to recognizing and acting in cases of potential infringements of intellectual property rights, as well as challenges in the area of ​​collective management of copyrights.

The discussion focused on the practical protection of innovations and brands, the gap between the existing legislative framework and real market circumstances, the challenges in the exercise of collective copyright, as well as the need for a more precise definition of institutional mechanisms and competencies in the field of inspection supervision. The importance of cooperation between institutions at all levels of government and the necessity of adapting legislation to modern product distribution models and digital distribution channels was also highlighted.The following panelists spoke on the above topics: Jasmina Suljović, Tarik Prolaz, Emira Trgo Vrabac, Zvjezdana Antonović and Zagorka Gojković.
