The American Chamber of Commerce in BiH (AmCham BiH), in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo, the International Republican Institute (IRI), and Women4Cyber BiH, proudly organized the 4th Cyber Security Conference titled "Resilience as a Strategic Capability." The event brought together leaders and experts from various industries around discussions about growing cyber threats and share experiences on how to prevent and respond to cyber-attacks. The goal of the conference was to raise awareness about the importance of adequate cybersecurity and to position it as a priority in sectors such as telecommunications, banking, and energy.
Nedim Hamzić, Secretary General of AmCham BiH, emphasized the significance of this topic for the BiH economy: "Cybersecurity is vital for companies in BiH. Our role is to continually educate and raise awareness among decision-makers about the importance of cybersecurity and to help implement methods that enable the prevention and response to cyber-attacks. Each year through this conference, we aim to ensure that our members stay ahead of the growing cyber threats."
Carin Mirowitz from IRI and Allison Stepinac, Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy in BiH, also stressed the urgency of addressing this issue. Mirowitz stated: “Cybersecurity is a challenge that affects everyone, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is no exception. This conference serves as a platform that enables key actors to work together to enhance the country's security and resilience.”
During the panel on the role of women in cybersecurity, Lejla Tulić Ivojević from Artco Group and Azra Habibija Ražanica, President of Women4Cyber BiH, highlighted the importance of equal opportunities for all demographic groups to strengthen resilience against cyber threats. The discussion also covered the need for formal education in the field of cybersecurity and the role of women in this sector.
The conference also featured practical demonstrations of system vulnerabilities and solutions for tackling modern challenges. Industry leaders presented strategies for risk reduction through technological solutions, education, and policy development, reminding everyone once again of the importance of a unified approach in both the public and private sectors.
