The American Chamber of Commerce in B&H (AmCham BiH) joins the appeal of the Association of Employers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (UPFBiH) for the urgent reconstruction of railway and road infrastructure, especially in the area of the Municipality of Jablanica, which has been badly affected by recent floods and landslides. This initiative is of key importance for the normalization of economic flows and the daily life of the population, since interruptions in transport lines cause great losses to the economy, which are measured in millions of KM on a daily basis.
AmCham BiH supports the efforts of the Government of the Federation of BiH and calls on the competent institutions to speed up the administrative and legal processes, in order to rebuild the necessary infrastructure as quickly as possible. A special challenge is the application of the Law on Public Procurement, which often slows down emergency interventions, and AmCham BiH joins the call to find more efficient models that would enable faster resolution of such issues in crisis situations.
The members of AmCham BiH, including many who directly feel the consequences of the interruption of traffic lines, expect a quick and coordinated reaction in order to enable the smooth functioning of the economy and protect the everyday life of citizens.
AmCham BiH will continue to actively monitor the situation and provide support to all efforts aimed at the rapid and efficient recovery of the affected areas, while at the same time advocating long-term solutions that will prevent similar problems in the future.
