AmCham BiH, as a partner of the 10th GS1 Conference, invites business leaders and expert teams to see how AI, digital product identity and structured transactions are changing risk management, investments and growth on September 16 in Sarajevo.
Digital transformation rarely fails because a company hasn't heard of a new technology. Greater risk arises when the investment does not have a clear business goal, data is not organized, responsibilities are divided between departments, and integration and compliance are considered only before the end of the project.
1. Can AI be trusted if the data is not ready?
AI is increasingly used in analytics, customer support, sales, forecasting and automation. However, a plausible answer is not necessarily the correct answer. The conference program opens the issues of identity of products and locations, quality of master data, ownership of data and human control over decisions.
For management, this means that an AI project is not judged only by the choice of tools, but by the business outcome, the acceptable level of error, accountability and the ability to connect with existing systems.
2. Can the product respond to new market demands?
2D codes, GS1 Digital Link, the digital product passport and the EU Packaging Regulation increase the amount of data accompanying the product. This affects production, procurement, trade, sustainability, legal affairs and IT. Companies connected to international markets need to know what data they have, who validates it, and whether they can provide it to the appropriate user in a usable format.
The conference brings an example of 2D codes in stores and domestic experience of preparing the Digital Passport of products and data on packaging. The focus is not on one universal solution, but on steps that reduce the risk of wrong implementation.
3. Is the transaction really digital or just looks digital?
An emailed PDF can still trigger manual input. eInvoice and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) bring full value when data is structured, validation rules are clear, and ERP systems are connected. The fiscalization segment further separates what is already known from the technical and regulatory details that still need to be followed.
Why this is a conversation for multiple functions
- CEO and management determine business priority, risk and ownership of change;
- IT and digital teams evaluate data, architecture, integrations and scalability;
- finances monitor eAccount, fiscalization, costs and process control;
- legal, regulatory and compliance teams separate liability from assumption
- operations, procurement and supply chain check whether the solution works between business partners.
Experience zone and discussions with participants enable strategic issues to be connected with concrete business processes and solutions. The value of the conference is not only in the new information, but in a clearer next step that management can initiate within the company.
